Antenna v3 is a major release, our biggest ever update, with well over 200 enhancements and new features. Highlights include:
Streamlined Interface and Faster Workflow
Antenna 3.0 introduces a new streamlined visual interface, reducing screen clutter while packing in more features and speeding up your workflow. The web page now takes centre stage - always visible, while files and styles editor get their own dedicated dockable tabbed palettes. This means styles can be edited with the web page fully visible for instant visual feedback, and media files can be dragged and dropped from the files view straight onto the page. You can customise the screen layout with three GUI layout presets provided for different screen resolutions.
Tabbed Page Editor
Introducing a tabbed page editor - open several pages at once and flip between them with a single click. You can also open multiple projects and cut & paste objects and pages between them. The page editor auto-scrolls too - drag any object off the edge of the screen and the editor will scroll and enlarge the canvas size automatically. Object selection is even easier - drag out a selection rectangle and selection handles & properties palette will update in realtime to show what you are about to select - before you release the mouse button. The properties palette also displays object coordinates and dimensions in realtime as you drag.
Templates and Theme Pages
Site Theme (templates) selection is now fully integrated into the New Web Site dialog, and any project can be saved as a theme template, ideal for sharing your templates with others. Every new project features a dedicated master Theme page - anything placed on the Theme page appears on all other pages automatically with no setup required (Page Include is still available for experts of course!). Pages also inherit their initial title, description, keywords, centring, background etc. from the Theme page - a real time saver.
Streaming Flash Video, Site Search, Shopping Cart
An enhanced control set includes Flash Video streaming, Site Search and PayPal shopping objects, and we've improved many other familiar objects. For example the Picture object now features advanced rollover capabilities, so the old RollPicture object is no longer required, and the standard Panel object includes rollover opacity changes, replacing the old RollAlpha object. This means you can instantly turn any existing picture or panel into a rollover at any time.
Instant Forms Straight Out of the Box
Forms now work straight out of the box, often with zero configuration - just add your form fields to any web page and publish. File attachments are supported too. Each new project includes an advanced PHP form handling script, configured and published within Antenna - no more messing around with Notepad and 3rd party publishers. The form Submit button includes the form sending properties, removing the need for the old hidden 'Post' object.
New Button Lab
Stormdance has completely rewritten Button Lab - and its more tightly integrated than before. Adding a visually attractive button to a web page is now as simple as clicking Add Button on the toolbar. Button styles can be created, modified and deleted at any time, with up, hover and down states all handled for you by the software. Add to this the new button shapes, bevel, gradient, shadow and reflection capabilities, and you've got one seriously powerful button creator.
New Photo Gallery Maker
With 5 different layouts, smooth fades, gallery editing and automatic thumbnail tracking.
Text Editing with Style
The text editor can apply defined styles to selected words and phrases, while the improved Panel object takes over the role of creating a simple text link (with rollover capabilities). Quick linking enables you to drag any file from the Files palette directly onto a text selection in the text editor. The spell-checker now supports free I-Spell dictionaries in several languages.
New Language Manager
Talking of languages - there is a new dedicated language manager where site languages can be added, renamed, promoted to primary, and exported for external translation.
PhotoRazor Built In
Double-click any imported photo to resize and colour tint within Antenna. All image changes are non-destructive, so you can revert to the original imported photo at any time.
